Prof. Hassan Baaqeel, decided on his retirement after eight (8) years leading the College of Medicine-Jeddah as a Dean from 2008 to 2016, and two (2) years as Assistant Vice President, Educational Affairs Western Region from 2014-2016. The announcement was in the form of a farewell letter sent to the KSAU-HS and NGHA community in October 2016.
It’s with a heavy heart that I must share with you my decision to retire. It’s hard to believe that just 8 years ago, I started out as the Dean of COM-J and 2 years ago was also Assistant Vice President, Educational Affairs-Jeddah Campus. Prior to that from 1996 to 2008 I was first, Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology and subsequently Deputy Executive Director for Clinical Services at KAMC-WR. I have learned from and was inspired by all of you. Thank you for this and thank you for allowing me to do the same to you. I would like to thank the NGHA and University leadership for their support. For those that I inadvertently may have offended or hurt their feelings, please accept my apology. I wish NGHA and KSAU-HS all the best and each one of you to continue to accomplish what you started here. NGHA/KSAU-HS is a unique institution that deserves the best that we can offer. If I could leave you all with just one thought, remember
Allah loves someone who when works, he performs it in perfect manner (itqan).
Dr. Baaqeel previously served as chairman of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics from 1996 to 2008, then as a deputy executive director of clinical services in King Abdulaziz Medical City, Western Region.
