We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sheikh Abdul Saeed as Chairman of the Department of Basic Medical Sciences at the College of Medicine-Jeddah, KSAU-HS, reporting directly to the Associate Dean, Academic and Student Affairs, COM-J, KSAU-HS effective immediately, for a two-year term. In this capacity, he will be responsible for managing the Department of Basic Medical Sciences both academically and administratively.
Dr. Saeed is a graduate of Karachi University, Pakistan, obtaining his Bachelor of Science in 1975. He completed his M.Sc. in Biological Sciences (1978) at Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan (1978), his M. Phil in Reproductive Endocrinology (1982) also from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan, his PhD in Reproductive Physiology (1989) from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK, and his Postgraduate Diploma in Health Professions Education (2010) from Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan. Dr. Saeed was appointed as Senior Instructor, Department of Physiology & Pharmacology, Aga Khan University, Karachi Pakistan (1989-1996), Assistant Professor of Physiology (1997-2004) and Associate Professor of Physiology (2005-2011), Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan. His administrative experience (1999-2011) encompasses Director, Teaching, Learning and Assessment Committee and Vice Chair (Undergraduate Education), Department of Biological & Biomedical Sciences as well as a member/leader in several academic committees at Aga Khan University. He is very active in research with oral presentations and publications.
Dr. Saeed joined the College of Medicine, Jeddah, KSAU-HS in September 2011 as an Associate Professor of Physiology. He has been teaching and participating in all academic activities at COM-J, KSAU-HS.

Appointment Of Dr. Abuznadah As Associate Dean, Academic And Student AffairsWe are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Wesam Talal Abdullah Abuznadah as Associate Dean, Academic and Student Affairs, College of Medicine-Jeddah (COM-J), KSAU-HS, reporting directly to the Dean, COM-J, KSAU-HS effective immediately, for a two-year term. In this capacity, Dr. Abuznadah will be responsible for managing and monitoring all academic activities and student affairs for the COM-J, KSAU-HS. This appointment will be in addition to his clinical responsibilities. Dr. Abuznadah is a graduate of King Abdulaziz University, obtaining his M.B.Ch.B. in 1998. He joined the Surgical Residency Training Program at King Khalid National Guard Hospital, Jeddah (1999-2001), and obtained a scholarship to pursue a postgraduate Surgical Residency (2001-2006) at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. Dr. Abuznadah received his Master Degree in Education (2004) from Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax, Canada. He was awarded the General Surgery Specialty Certificate from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) in 2007. Dr. Abuznadah completed Fellowship Training in Vascular Surgery (2006-2008) from the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and was awarded the Vascular Surgery Specialty Certificate from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) in 2009. Upon his return to the Kingdom, he was appointed as Consultant Vascular & Endovascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, KAMC-J (2008). Dr. Abuznadah was credentialed as an Assistant Professor of Surgery, COM-J, KSAU-HS in 2010. He has been teaching and participating in all academic activities at KAMC-J and COM-J and is currently the Chairman, Department of Medical Education, COM-J and the Program Site Director, Masters in Medical Education Degree, KSAU-HS. Dr. Abuznadah is the Head of Research Promotion & Education, King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC), Western Region and a member of many committees. He is active in research having published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and participated in many scientific meetings with oral presentations. Dr. Lingawi at the Shoura CouncilThe college of medicine would like to offer its sincere congratulations to Dr. Sattam Lingawi- Associate Dean for Students & Academic Affairs, College of Medicine-Jeddah of a new appointment as a Shoura Council at its current cycle. In 1991, Dr. Sattam Lingawi graduated with honors from the College of Medicine, King Abdulaziz University, and was appointed as a faculty assistant at the university before obtaining the scholarship at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver –Canada in 1994. Moreover, Dr. Lingawi Founded the Radiological Society of Saudi Arabia (RSSA), and chaired the board of management directors from (2004-2009). In addition, he was the Co-Founder and Vice President of the Pan Arab Association of Radiological Societies (PAARS), 2004 –2006, PAARS office, Beirut – Lebanon. On 2/08/1431 AH (14/07/2010 AD) King Saud Bin AbdulAziz University for Health Sciences appointed Dr. Sattam Lingawi as an Associate Dean for Students & Academic Affairs of the College of Medicine-Jeddah, and considered to be one of the founders. Dr. Taghreed Justinia Participation at The "19th International Conference on Learning "We would like to congratulate Dr. Taghreed Justinia for presenting her research paper at the "19th International Conference on Learning" in London, England. The research was conducted at KSAU-HS in conjunction with a research intern from Dalhousie University, Canada (Ms. Hanin Shalaby). The paper is entitled “Teaching Postgraduate Health Informatics Courses Through Video-conference Supported Collaborative Learning Environments”. This paper examines the use of video conferencing as a collaborative learning approach, while exploring its applicability as a knowledge management tool at the KSAU-HS for both faculty and students studying the Master of Science in Health Informatics program. Dr. Abuznadah First Appointed National Educator in the History of ATLS® in the Middle East and North AfricaWe would like to extend our sincere congratulations to Dr. Wesam Talal Abuznadah for his elevation from ATLS® Course Educator to ATLS National Educator as accepted and approved by the ATLS® Office, American College of Surgeons in Chicago. This appointment effectively makes Dr. Abuznadah the first appointed National Educator in the history of ATLS® in the Middle East and north Africa making us all proud.
